Peter Spilles, who will be in Bucharest on January 29, 2011 for VIVA MUSIC's Darkwave.ro Fest with his project PROJECT PITCHFORK, is Viva Music's December Artist of the Month. Influenced, among others, by SEVERED HEADS, ALIEN SEX FIEND, SKINNY PUPPY or EINSTUERZENDE NEUBAUTEN, PROJECT PITCHFORK make the news every time they set foot in a new town or release a new album. In 1995, following PROJECT PITCHFORK's invitation, an unnoted RAMMSTEIN opened for PROJECT PITCHFORK concerts, an experience they remember in fond terms and that tells a splendid tale of PROJECT PITCHFORK's notoriety in the 1990's. Even if PROJECT PITCHFORK means for Peter Spilles falling in and out of the hard and loud pattern, it is rhythm oriented and creates harmonies. PROJECT PITCHFORK's music is featured in a French movie of 2002 TV fame, "Zone Reptile", that, besides a 12-min footage of PROJECT PITCHFORK live shot precisely for the movie, adds up zest by using their lyrics throughout the movie, including in the main character's thoughts and lines, thus creating a new narrative interwoven in the movie's texture.

With 15 albums and 2 of Deutsche Phono Akademie's Echo nominations to date, PROJECT PITCHFORK is a renowned name of the dark electro industrial timeline and also a conceptual artifact that renews itself with every new release. Says Peter Spilles in an early interview, each album "definitely transports the typical musical spirit and atmospheres our fans love, but in a darker, more powerful and brand new way". The PROJECT PITCHFORK consortium, nowadays including besides Peter Spilles himself, Dirk Scheuber, Juergen Jansen, Achim Faerber and Carsten Klatte started as early as 1989, after a providential meeting of Peter Spilles and Dirk Scheuber at a GIRLS UNDER GLASS concert, but went official in 1991 with the release of "Dhyani". They chose their name with a random dictionary pick, ending up with ‘pitchfork' which, says Spilles, could stand for a tuning fork for the bands' musical ideas. Although fully devoted to PROJECT PITCHFORK, Peter Spilles confides that his other projects, namely IMATEM and SANTA HATES YOU give him the needed creative space that enlightens him in order to know where to go with PROJECT PITCHFORK.

PROJECT PITCHFORK is not Peter Spilles' only child, but it is a matured and diligent project worthy of anyone's attention. As detailed as PROJECT PITCHFORK are the two 2007-to date projects Peter Spilles puts creative and heartfelt efforts into, namely the subversive SANTA HATES YOU, with Italian Jinxy, which proposes danceable beats and catchy sequences, and the elaborate IMATEM, which features collaborations with VNV NATION's Ronan Harris, ABSURD MINDS' Stefan Grossmann, Sara Noxx and Jinxy.

PROJECT PITCHFORK's travel from "Dhyani" to "Continuum Ride" is one of dedication, effort and creativity. The many changes on the path to becoming a 20-year acclaimed band has not been exempt from crossroads and tough choices, but retrospectively it appears to be a rewarding experience - one that Peter Spilles and his mates will continue to tell.
